While we wait to see what the future holds for the Albany – Rensselaer Livingston Ave. Bridge, other structures in the valley have been retrofitted and celebrated for their connections to art, history and nature.

The Rip Van Winkle Bridge, between Hudson and Catskill was recently added as the “Skywalk” centerpiece of a new trail system that connects the historic Frederick Church’s “Olana” to Thomas Cole’s “Cedar Grove” homes. Read the story here.

Someday state and federal leaders will recognize the value of the Livingston Ave Bridge or it’s replacement. They’ll see this desireable walkway offers a safe and accessible, not to mention attractive, means to cross the Hudson and explore not only connect history and culture of Albany and Rensselaer,  but people to jobs and services, too.
